Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was inspired to compose his Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola and Orchestra by The Court Orchestra of Mannheim, one of the best orchestras of his time. Its level of performance, coherence and close attention to details set the quality standards in orchestra sounding for several centuries.

As for Contemporary Ukrainian composer Yurii Laniuk, he has drawn his inspiration from Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante. In his Sinfonia Concertante entitled “Transfiguration”, Laniuk has not used Mozart's musical themes. Instead, he experiments with colourful sounds for virtuoso soloists and orchestra.
The soloists are well-known, young European musicians Tobias Feldmann (violin) and Muriel Razavi (viola).
